May Ball a success in Torquay

Online PR News – 15-May-2011 – – The Grand Hotel was the venue for the 2011 Torquay Boys Grammar School May Ball. The parents association organised the event and sold the tickets, which was well attended by friends, parents and sponsors of the school. The evening started with drinks at the bar and an opportunity to have a commemorative photo taken by Nick Hallett. Guests were invited into the dining room at 8:30. The tables were decorated with flowers, green and yellow helium balloons, ribbons and two bottles of wine. Following a short game of “heads” or “tails” with a bottle of bubbly was up for grabs for a lucky winner, a Salmon and Dill Terrine starter was served .

Each guest had a goody bag on the table, which contained gifts from sponsors, including a free print audit for business owners from Canon copier and printer vendor Citrus Digital plus a discount voucher for a canvas print from . Other donated gifts included highlighters, a mouse mat, fudge and a miniature gin and tonic from Plymouth Gin.

The main course of Chicken with Dauphinoise Potatoes was well presented, piping hot and cooked to perfection. This successful main was followed by delicious English Strawberries and traditional clotted cream. The raffle was drawn while cheese and biscuits were served with coffee. Prizes again being donated by sponsors of the evening. Citrus Digital offered a 16 x 24 inch canvas, the winner uploading their own digital photo for printing via the website, or a choice of print from the gallery.

Master of Ceremonies Robin Barlow expertly conducted an Auction with a selection of exciting lots including a helicopter flight and an opportunity to attend the Colonels review in London .

Musical entertainment was provided by Cahoots who matched their repertoire perfectly for the guests. The dance floor was packed as the night concluded at 1:00 A.M
The event was declared a resounding success as guests left having raised useful funds for the charity.
