As creator and Director of Healthy Life Moves, Michelle Powers brings much to the table. With a BA in Dance Education – Kinesthetic Awareness, Performance and Pedagogy, from Western Washington University, she was soon dancing professionally and teaching throughout the Oregon and Washington, and then Europe and the Middle East. Her Graduate project was 'The Cognitive and Neurological Approach to Sensory Motor Movement', an educational focus she continues to utilize with her private clients and club and studio students to this day. She moved on to work fifteen years as a corporate director of Destination Resort Spas beginning with the start up team at Marriott Desert Springs, moving up quickly as she learned all aspects of the holistic health arena. In demand for her managerial and profit making skills, she moved on to being a highly sought Spa Consultant. Shibumi Consulting International was her own business and home base in California until this exercise fitness videos project was born. She is an instructor on the HLM site for multiple dance and fitness videos.
About Liz, Assistant Director
As Assistant Director, Liz Jeans adds a powerful complimentary dimension. She received her MA in Dance from the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon where she developed Community Programs in Movement and dance. She toured with Michelle professionally including Baghdad Iraq, when still under Saddam Hussein. Continuing on her own, she danced with the famous Moulin Rouge and took other professional dance tours, building on experience and skills. She returned to the US, dance in Kansas City, Missouri to teach at the Visual & Performing Arts School at Wendell Phillips for 7 years. She later developed a dance program for St. Teresa’s Academy and was the artistic director for Rite of Danse. In 1997, Liz became a licensed massage therapist and also contributes to the healing modalities on this site.
