The title is both literal and figurative as peering into China in many ways is like looking into the future, something largely true of the US in the last century.

In Taiwan, Eric will be giving a presentation called "International Festivals As A Platform For Taiwanese Music" at the 2011 The International Music Market Development Forum organized by the Pop Music Project Office of the Government Information Office. The presentation will examine the opportunities and challenges offered by international festival/conferences such as Canadian Music Week (Toronto), Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg) and CMJ Festival (NYC) in developing Taiwanese music on a global scale. Eric will also be interviewing some of Taiwan's hottest indie bands such as The Whites Eyes, Go Chic and Mavis Fan as well many shows at Taipei leading livehouse, The Wall.
In Shenzhen, Eric will be giving a presentation called "Telescoping China's Next Generation Of Music From NYC!" at "China Sounds" as part of the China International Cultural Industries Fair. The presentation will take the development of MusicDish*China as a case study in developing a cross-cultural-national platform bridging eastern and western music. Eric will also be unveiling MusicDish*China's Mandarin name after conducting a crowdsourcing project on major chinese social media sites like douban and sina.
As well as showcasing China's top bands and artists, China Sounds is an exclusive networking event which provides access to all the players in the Chinese music industry in one place. China Sounds is part of the China (Shenzhen) Cultural Industries Fair 2011 which is China's only national-level, cultural exchange platform at this time. Now in its seventh year, it will take place in over thirty venues throughout Shenzhen City, with over 15,000 exhibitors covering all facets of the cultural industries.
As a media sponsor, Eric will be closing the 'tour' at Music Matters 2011 which just recently relocated from Hong Kong to Singapore.
