The Beauty Schools of America Homestead, FL location recently challenged their third level cosmetology students with 'Hair in the 18th Century,' a light-hearted assignment designed to challenge their skills and expand their creativity.

Online PR News – 29-April-2011 – – MIAMI, FL -- Recently, the Beauty Schools of America Homestead, Florida location challenged the creativity of their third level students with a 'Hair in the 18th Century' assignment.

The theme, 'Hair in the 18th Century,' was chosen because hairstyles in that era were extreme, grandiose and luxurious. Students were asked to examine 18th century hairstyle and fashion as inspiration for a class project.

Our third-level cosmetology instructor Ms. Rey teaches the class in Spanish and she is always seeking out new ways to challenge her students and access their creativity. It was a great challenge and the results surprised all of us. Our students had a lot of fun and learned quite a bit about past styles and what women of the 18th century considered beautiful.

"Ms. Rey and her class looked to Marie Antoinette as inspiration for the 'Hair in the 18th Century' project. Antoinette was the epitome of excess at the time and, of course, highly fashionable. Heavily decorated gowns, large, elaborate wigs and make-up were all common during the time period. The students did a great job on their mannequin's hairstyles," said Jimenez.
