The author of numerous highly respected peer reviewed medical journals and papers on the subject of pain medicine, Dr. Diwan is one of the country's leading figures in his field. His impressive medical career began by completing his residency in Anesthesiology at St Lukes Roosevelt Hospital and Columbia University. This was followed by completing his Pain Medicine Fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell University in 1997.
In 2001 he became Director of the Tri-Institutional Pain Fellowship Program and Division of Pain Medicine at Ivy League Weill Medical College of Cornell University, a position he held for ten years. He also served as Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and on the faculty for the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health, the Comprehensive Spine Center and the Jill Robert IBD Center for Gastrointestinal Health.
The list of positions he currently holds include: President of New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Examiner for the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians and Chairman of the Neuropathic Pain Council of Neuropathy Association. He also speaks regularly on the management of cancer and non-cancer pain for the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists.
