Musician Dave “Holiday” Sylvester is a multi-talented musician who has been involved in writing, arranging, and playing music since age 5. His older brother Gerald challenged Dave to take time away from his normal music routine and release a single for a holiday that normally isn’t associated with music. He released his single “The Thanksgiving Song” which he hopes will become an anthem to celebrate the holiday.
Online PR News – 24-November-2009 – – Brooklyn, New York, November 23, 2009 – Dave “Holiday” Sylvester recently released “The Thanksgiving Song”. He created this catchy song to be an anthem for the holidays. “This piece was specifically to honor Thanksgiving. I wanted to write music, sing, and dance, but was responsible for playing drums in a band”, said Dave.
Since he was 5 years old, Dave “Holiday” Sylvester has been involved in music. After his older brother Gerald joined the school marching band, he began teaching Dave drum patterns on their family washing machine. This maneuver eventually led to their mother to buying them an actual drum set. From there, Dave learned how to play the keyboards, bass, and sing lead and backup vocals in addition to the drums.
Drawing influence from such bands as Earth, Wind, and Fire, Barry White, Kool & the Gang, The Jackson 5, and the Commodores, Dave learned to create harmonies and add texture to his songwriting and playing capabilities. He then delved into the world of recording and learned how to compliment his own style of songwriting and layer the vocals to his songs using a 4 track. However, his passion for recording started previously with just two tape recorders. He would record one track on one tape recorder, and then simultaneously play it back while recording a second track on another tape recorder.
His new single “The Thanksgiving Song” was created specifically for the holiday using Dave’s unique approach to music as well as his homemade recording style. Today he uses a computer program called Cubase for recording in own more advanced studio. “The Thanksgiving Song” is a piece of Soul and Pop with R&B music that Dave hopes will become an anthem for an important holiday seldom associated with it's own music.
“The Thanksgiving Song” is currently available for purchase on Itunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, Napster, CD Baby, Nokia, and E-Music. Dave “Holiday” Sylvester is also currently putting the finishing touches on his first full-length album.
