Accurate and sensitive
To meet quality goals, Bahlsen required a flexible, dynamic weighing solution with sensitive metal detection capabilities and the ability to inspect a vast range of products. The company needed a checkweigher that could very accurately weigh products across a broad weight range (between 20 g and 750 g). To meet these requirements, Bahlsen chose METTLER TOLEDO as its product inspection equipment supplier. METTLER TOLEDO provided a combination system using GARVENS checkweighing and SAFELINE metal detection technology.
Monitoring product weight
With an accuracy of 300 mg, the XS3 CC H checkweigher uses automatic air jet rejection to remove underweight and overweight products from the production line. Elimination of underweight products ensures adherence to Weights and Measures legislation and enhances consumer satisfaction while the removal of overweight products and provision of feedback to fill machines minimises product waste. Separate rejection of underweight or overweight and metal-contaminated products allows for the prompt identification of the cause of rejection, allowing Bahlsen to optimize its production line.
The selected METTLER TOLEDO equipment provides several additional capabilities that allow producers of a wide variety of products to rapidly set up and changeover production lines. These features include its ability to weigh 300 packs per minute, work at variable conveyor belt speeds, and provide a 200-item product library. The system’s touch screen display further facilitates production with clear, intuitive operator guidance that enhances ease-of-use and minimises time needed for operator training.
