Vancouver Artists Have Come Together To Form A Special 6 Band Rock Event To Raise Money For Japan Earthquake Victims.
Online PR News – 21-March-2011 – – Local rock guitarist Doug Smith (Piggy, The Strugglers) originally organized a six band rock show at the Rickshaw Theatre at 254 East Hasting Street for a chance for various notable Vancouver musicians to get a chance to play in alternative projects and have a little fun welcoming in spring. By overwhelming consensus, most of the bands have now agreed to donate 100% of their share of earnings towards the Japanese Relief effort via the Canadian Red Cross. The event, originally entitled “Paleolithic RAWK Spring Fling Low Dough 6-Band Blowout!” will retain the same name.
The generosity started with Vancouver-based RothChilds guitarist Darryl Stapleton’s suggestion. Darryl’s ex-wife and most recent significant other are currently in Tokyo and Osaka. The idea was quickly adopted by members of 22nd Century and Jesus Krysler (performing in a mixed band as Phat Lizzy) jumping up next to donate and Eddy Dutchman of The Fabulous Wally’s within minutes.
“This generosity from musicians comes at what is notably the worst time financially to be in the industry” stated Phat Lizzy guitarist Duane Chaos. “It impresses me to see the other bands so eager to give to their fellow human beings when live performances are one of the last remaining revenue streams for artists.”
The show opens at 8:00 PM PDT at The Rickshaw Theater Friday March 18, 2011 and is only $10 at the door.
