Leading insurance intermediary Kwik Fit Insurance hopes the Chancellor will today adopt the proposed vehicle scrappage scheme.
Online PR News – 04-May-2009 – – Leading insurance intermediary Kwik Fit Insurance hopes the Chancellor will today adopt the proposed vehicle scrappage scheme. This would take vehicles over 8 years and producing greater than 150g/km of CO2 off the road while compensating owners for their replacement.
Brendan Devine, Managing Director of Kwik Fit Insurance said, “Vehicles over 8 years can be both environmentally damaging in terms of increased emissions and more prone to breakdown. As an insurer, we also know that there’s an age when the decreasing value of an older car means it’s more likely to be written off than repaired, giving the owners disposal headaches.
“This scheme has proven to be very popular in Germany and we see real benefits to motorists, the environment and to improved road safety. It will undoubtedly also deliver much needed benefit to the ailing motor industry.”
Insuring almost half a million motorists in the UK, Kwik Fit Insurance actively champions several road safety initiatives, including the annual Lollipop Person of the Year awards and National Road Safety Week.
Brendan Devine added, “The Chancellor has very little money to play around with in this Budget but we’d argue that the vehicle scrappage scheme would deliver genuine benefits which would be worth the relatively small investment to obtain.”
