Online PR News – 13-November-2009 – – Bytesnap Design, a company that specialises in embedded systems focused software development and electronics design, has this year beat off stiff competition to be highly commended in the Best Added Value Product category for the ICT Excellence Awards.

The fast-growing and successful company won the award for its Windows CE Plogg Network Controller (PNC). The PNC is a device that is installed in consumers’ homes and businesses in order to allow utilities to control the electricity used within their building. It does this by creating an interface between the internet and appliances using a Zigbee wireless network.
The principal function of the PNC is providing what is known as demand response, the ability of utilities to prevent grid overload by controlling the overall electricity demand within customer premises.

The judges selected ByteSnap Design since they created a flexible product rapidly by using their existing Windows CE and ZIgbee experience. ByteSnap Design also used company IP to accelerate the debugging of the product.

ByteSnap Design is a specialist in innovative embedded hardware and software design and a typical example of an emerging Midlands technology company. Founded in 2008 with a client list spanning the UK, Europe and US, ByteSnap Design was formed by Graeme Wintle and Dunstan Power.
Together with their team of experienced, talented and innovative software and hardware engineers, they offer their clients a blend of embedded systems services, from hardware design and engineering skills to Windows Mobile and Windows Embedded software development.
Dunstan Power said of the win, “We have put a lot of work over the last two years into getting the company up and running and this would feel like a recognition that we are achieving business success.”
“As a relatively new and small company the main challenge we face is getting our name known in the industry. Awards such as these go a long way to helping us get our message out to the market and help us feel proud of what we have achieved,” he concluded.
Mike Musson, ICT Cluster Manager, added: “This year we've seen the highest standard of award entries yet and competition has been incredibly tough. The ongoing judging process has been rigorous and the panel faced a major challenge deciding the final winners. It's fantastic to see the quality and diversity of technology companies the West Midlands region has to offer”.

The ICT Cluster Excellence Awards were presented at the evening Awards event following the Annual ICT Cluster Conference held at the National Motorcycle Museum on 10 November 2009.
