CADI Urgèlia, has won the Gold Award in the Best Cow’s Milk Cheese category as part of the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 2020 Sofi™ Awards.
Online PR News – 28-August-2020 – Flanders, New Jersey – CADI Urgèlia, has won the Gold Award in the Best Cow’s Milk Cheese category as part of the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 2020 Sofi™ Awards, a top honor in the $158 billion specialty food industry.
The CADI Urgèlia was one of 148 winners selected by a panel of specialty food experts from nearly 2,000 entries across 39 product categories. Products are judged on taste, including flavor, appearance, texture and aroma, ingredient quality and innovation. All tastings are blind. This year, for the first time, Sofi judging was held at the prestigious Rutgers Food Innovation Center following strict safety guidelines.
About CADI Urgèlia
A traditional semi-soft specialty cheese from Catalonia with PDO (Protected Designation of Origin). All milk for Urgèlia cheese comes from the Frisona breed of cattle. Urgèlia is a washed rind cheese aged a minimum of 45 days. The interior paste is creamy white with many small holes and a light brown rind. A robust and buttery taste with a fruity and aromatic flavor, which is reminiscent of moss, fungi or almonds.
Urgèlia is a delicious pairing with Spanish membrillo (quince jelly), eaten with fruit, salads, or Serrano ham. An excellent melting cheese, enjoy melted on pasta dishes, pizza, crepes or soups.
