Potterhead Running Club Supports Trans Lifeline Through Virtual Run

Global Participants Take Part in Fandom-Themed Fitness Fundraising Event

Online PR News – 22-August-2020 – Guilford, CT – Random Tuesday, Inc. (RTI), a world leader in virtual fitness events to benefit charity partners, has launched a month-long event directly supporting nonprofit organization Trans Lifeline.

As creators of the Fanthropy(TM) programs uniting fandom interests and philanthropic efforts, RTI's Potterhead Running Club (PHRC) is hosting an event known as "Platform: Year Seven", a nine and three-quarters kilometer virtual event that draws participation from thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers around the world. Proceeds from event registrations and related merchandise go to Trans Lifeline, a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources they need to survive and thrive.

The ongoing difficulties that trans and questioning individuals face -- harassment and violence, barriers to identification, employment, housing, healthcare, voting -- are at the center of Trans Lifeline's mission since its founding in 2014. They are an organization led by, staffed by, and expressly for trans individuals. Through the event proceeds, Trans Lifeline will further their work maintaining and staffing their hotline for direct support, and providing microgrants to trans people for legal name changes and updated government identification documents.

"We are a widespread and wonderful family," says Dawn Biggs, Chief Creative Officer for Random Tuesday. "As long as these walls stand, we will repeat again and again: all are welcome in this castle. All are welcome, seen, respected, loved, and encouraged to love themselves."

The virtual event runs August 22 through September 20, and all are invited to register via the PHRC website, potterheadrunning.org. Once registered, participants can complete the event distance at any pace, in any location, on any date(s) of their choosing. Medals will be sent to registrants on the honor system (no proof of completion required) two weeks after the event campaign closes.
