PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS COUNCIL LOS ANGELES APPOINTS BAYLEY MIZELLE AS ITS FIRST DIRECTOR
(Los Angeles, CA) – The Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles – PAC LA – is pleased to announce that Bayley Mizelle will be joining the team as the organization’s first Director. This position marks a milestone in the evolution of this nonprofit organization, founded in 2013.
PAC LA engages the diverse photography community of Los Angeles through active learning opportunities – through viewing and discussing classic and contemporary photography, hearing lectures by experts, engaging in an ongoing dialogue with artists and organizing photo-focused travel. PAC LA offers both public and member-focused programming around photography and photo-based art throughout the year.
As the new Director of PAC LA, Bayley Mizelle will guide the organization’s social media presence, develop original programming and interface with the ever-growing membership. Beyond these tasks, Bayley will work with the Board as PAC LA strives to engage a broader community.
PAC LA President, Michael Hawley stated, “Bayley Mizelle appeared at exactly the right time for PAC LA. Beyond the pandemic considerations, PAC is going through natural changes of a non-profit that has found its firm footing. Bayley’s mix of intelligence, steadiness and endless ideas will be just the right fit for our group. Our horizon just broadened immeasurably.”
Bayley is a graduate of California Institute of the Arts – CalArts. In addition to her work with several contemporary art galleries and artists’ studios, Bayley has been closely involved with the Los Angeles photographic community co-producing and co-curating immersive events and exhibitions, collaborating with The Lucie Foundation for Month of Photography LA as well as Frieze LA.
Of her new position, Mizelle said, “I’m excited entering my role as Director of PAC, working alongside a distinguished board of photography stewards.” Acknowledging the larger role of PAC LA, she is looking toward “continuing conversations in the photographic arts with our accessible programming, new educational opportunities and partnerships, and connecting art and artists communities.”
The Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles welcomes Bayley Mizelle.
