Glen Murrant seeking office of councillor for CBRM District 3
Online PR News – 28-July-2020 – Sydney, Nova Scotia – Leitches Creek resident Glen Murrant has announced his intention to run in the upcoming municipal election. Murrant is looking to become the next CBRM District 3 councillor, the position currently held by Esmond "Blue" Marshall of Eskasoni First Nation. Murrant, a local communications and marketing professional, currently sits on the Port of Sydney Development Corporation board of directors.
"I've never been one to wait quietly for things to happen. Some might call that 'impatient', but I call it 'getting things done'. District 3 residents, and CBRM as a whole, need representatives who will advocate for them, speak up for them, and get things done. There are important issues that need urgent attention - issues like affordable housing, municipal services, and infrastructure. And council should be more engaged with other levels of government on issues like improving rural high-speed internet, better home care for seniors, employment and economic development. We need to pick up the pace."
Born in Sydney, Murrant grew up in Howie Center and attended Riverview Rural High in Coxheath before graduating from St. F.X. university. After working in Dartmouth for over a decade, he and his young family moved back to Cape Breton in 2008.
"In 2008 we quit our jobs, sold our house, and moved back here to start over. Everyone said, 'Are you crazy? Nobody moves back to Cape Breton!'. But we knew in our hearts it was the right decision. We wanted to raise our kids in Cape Breton. That was twelve years ago - we've never looked back."
