The utility management tech company recently hired a new VP of sales with plans to bring its innovative bill-back services to multifamily owners nationwide.
Online PR News – 16-July-2020 – San Francisco, CA – Livable is pleased to announce that it recently hired Jimmy Thompson as its Vice President of Sales. Thompson comes to Livable after years of building relationships with multifamily owners in the Midwest, most recently as a principal at Foxen, a renters’ insurance software company.
“I came into Foxen as its second employee and helped them multiply their business growth over the last few years,” said Thompson. “Now I can’t wait to do the same thing for Livable.”
Strange as it may seem, Thompson has COVID to thank for his new position. When the country and the economy shut down in March, Foxen was forced to lay off many of its staff, including Thompson. After the layoff, Thompson’s first thoughts were to reach out to the people he had built relationships with and make sure they knew he wasn’t going anywhere. “I do business in a very personal way,” Thompson explained. “I didn’t want to disappear on anyone.”
One of the people Thompson contacted put him in touch with Livable CEO Daniel Sharabi and a fast bond was made. One phone call turned into two phone calls, which turned into several Zoom calls and, finally, an in-person interview. “Suddenly I’m flying to San Francisco during the height of the pandemic,” Thompson laughed.
For Sharabi, it was immediately clear that Thompson was a great fit for Livable, especially as the smart billing software company puts growth on the forefront in 2020. “Jimmy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will accelerate Livable's national expansion,” he said. “He is an industry veteran who can not only lay a foundation for sustainable growth but also execute on Livable's vision to become ubiquitous with utility billing, nationwide.”
That expansion plan will be especially tricky while trade shows and other apartment association events are canceled for the foreseeable future. But Thompson is agile and already pivoting from in-person meetings to making connections virtually through webinars and other online outreach programs.
Livable's suite of bill-back services can lower utility bills for rental housing providers by up to 90 percent while also promoting conservation efforts. Given the uptick in water and energy use during shelter in place, that's a message that's resonating with owners and managers now more than ever. “Livable takes the burden of utility bills and collection off of the landlord, and that’s huge,” Thompson said. “It’s a great value-add and I’m excited to get started.”
