Lawrence Hamm stands in support of the workers of University Hospital in calling for more PPE to ensure safety from contracting COVID19 as they serve the public
Online PR News – 05-June-2020 – Newark – NEWARK, N.J.---“I stand in support of the workers of University Hospital in calling for more PPEs to ensure safety from contracting COVID-19 as they serve the public, as well as from infecting their families. I bring this message to Shareef Elnahal, President of UHNJ on behalf of workers who are in fear of speaking out. There are healthcare workers on the job who have tested positive for COVID-19: this is inhumane.”
According to Medscape Medical News report on April 10, 2020, “Although states and cities are regularly updating and publicly reporting overall COVID-19 infection numbers and deaths, few jurisdictions are tracking and publicly reporting how many healthcare workers have been infected”. Mr. Hamm asserts that this dilemma presents a danger to the health of the community-at-large. He supports the call for ramped-up testing of all healthcare workers from janitors to doctors and, from cooks to nurses; but with public transparency of testing numbers and infection rates. Mr. Hamm contends that hospitals place an excessive burden on healthcare workers by not providing adequate PPEs, testing, and follow-up care.
Lawrence Hamm cautions the State of New Jersey in its discussions to ease restrictions in a move to reopen the economy before mass testing and medical data analysis to determine next steps.
