Big Bad Boo Studios has launched 16 Hudson ER, a series of 5 PSAs teaching preschoolers about COVID-19. The shorts are available to stream online today!
Online PR News – 29-April-2020 – Vancouver, BC – In response to COVID-19, Big Bad Boo is launching 16 Hudson ER, a set of five Public Service Announcements using characters from its original preschool series, 16 Hudson. The videos will serve to educate, calm and empower children during these times, when homeschooling and staying home are mandated across the globe.
“Through 16 Hudson ER we hope to not only inform kids about COVID-19, but to also ease their anxieties and empower them to make healthy choices,” said Big Bad Boo co-founder, Shabnam Rezaei. “We talk about what coronavirus is, how to stop the spread, and what social distancing means.”
Big Bad Boo’s entire animation team worked tirelessly to produce the shorts and extended crew jumped on board to prioritize the work. Written by 16 Hudson head writers Suzanne Bolch and John May, the shorts range from 1 to 3 minutes in length and were produced in partnership with TVOKids. Voice actors Andrea Libman, Vincent Tong, Tabitha St. Germain, Maryke Hendrikse, Maz Jobrani, and Banafsheh Taherian all reprised their roles from the series. The cast recorded remotely in order to participate in the project while following social distancing protocols. Additional funding was provided by Shaw Rocket Fund. Matt Davis and Greg Stewart also participated in the effort, contributing music and post-production support, respectively.
This news comes shortly after Big Bad Boo announced the company would be lifting the paywall on its SVOD platform Oznoz for two months, giving families in North America access to hundreds of cartoons in 10+ languages during the quarantine.
The original PSAs will be available on Oznoz as well as Big Bad Boo and TVO Kids’ respective YouTube channels. Additional distribution partners include Knowledge Kids, UNICEF, TFO, SRC-Radio Canada (in French), Hope Works, and Amazon Prime Video.
