Standup Comedian (Amazon, JFL) Launches Comedy Podcast: Black Card Rehab

The Only Comedy Podcast About Black Pop Culture You Need During Black History Month 2020

Online PR News – 22-January-2020 – Los Angeles, CA – Standup Comedian, Kristal Adams (Amazon Laugh After Dark, JFL, Big Pine Best of Fest Winner 2019), is very familiar with having her “Black Card” questioned. “Having your Black Card revoked” is typically a phrase used to shame members of the Black community for their lack of knowledge in Black culture. However, Adams is turning this phrase on its head in a new podcast that hilariously addresses societal expectations of what a Black person is “supposed” to know.

Kristal Adams co-hosts the podcast with fellow standup comedian Paige Wesley (Cult Podcast, Roast Battle), whom she refers to as her “White Friend Paige” and who, more often than not, knows more about Black culture than guests and listeners would expect. Every week, comedians and artists are invited to geek out about a subject in Black pop culture that they know a lot about. Kristal, herself, pokes fun at how little she knows and starts every episode by weighing in on how she’s feeling that day on a scale of “Zero to Black.”

The first two much anticipated episodes drop during Black History Month on February 5th on iTunes and Spotify. The subsequent episodes will air weekly on Wednesdays. During the first month, episodes will feature interviews with comedians from Last Comic Standing, Funny or Die, Standup NBC, The Eric Andre Show and even some alumni from Historically Black Colleges & Universities. Topics covered in the initial episodes include Kendrick Lamar, [the TV show] Pose and 90s Hip Hop.

The podcast is geared toward anyone who loves discussions on Black pop culture and a good laugh. Get ready to check into rehab!
