Edmonton International Airport has become one of the most punctual airports of the world, according to a recent report.
Online PR News – 16-January-2020 – Edmonton – According to a new report given by a travel data provider, Edmonton International Airport (EIA) has become one of the most punctual airports in the world. EIA has achieved the 20th rank for its on-time performance in medium-sized airport category with a score of 79.89 per cent. The airports that achieved top ranks in the medium category are; airports in Panama City (Panama), Cape Town (South Africa), and Ankara (Turkey). By on-time performance, we mean that the flights arrive or depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled times. Among the Canadian airlines, WestJet Airlines provides the most punctual schedule, a report says. Be it a flight to India from Edmonton or to any other destination, EIA is known for its on-time performance!
An airport spokesperson wrote in an email to CTV News, “We're pleased to be recognized as one of the top on-time performance airports of our size, particularly considering the challenging northern winter weather conditions we manage.”
With the increase in fees and shrinkage in seat space, there has been a wave of frustration against the airlines. OAG data analyst John Grant said “airlines and airports are reaching near peak operational OTP across the world.”
Based on a report it has been found that Calgary’s YYZ has achieved the 17th rank among large-sized airports with an 80.72 per cent score. This airport has outshined the airports in San Diego and Philadelphia. With this, the only Canadian airports to be in the list of top 20 for on-time performance are Edmonton and Calgary’s airports.
