New BAE Systems Recruitment Website Goes Live

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions is looking to recruit and attract major talent in 2009 with the recent launch of a new website.

Online PR News – 01-May-2009 – –, which went live at the end of last month, is a colourful and informative site that promotes Barrow and its surrounding areas.

Developed with funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), it will act as a powerful recruitment tool for the Barrow shipyard.

As well as selling south Cumbria and its many attractions, a live vacancies section will allow potential recruits to upload their CVs and either apply for specific positions or simply register an interest in a particular field of work. In time it will also host job opportunities at other employers within the area.

Christian Elliott, BAE Systems Submarine Solutions' HR and Communications director, said: "It's a privilege to be in a position to be recruiting in such gloomy economic climates, so we see the new website as an important part of our drive to further recruit skilled and professional personnel over the coming year. "It is vital those looking to relocate to south Cumbria have a clear picture of the considerable benefits of living in this area, and does this extremely well."

Steven Broomhead, who is the Chief Executive of the NWDA, said: "www.worklifebarrow is an interactive site which not only promotes Cumbria as a great place to live and work but also provides real job opportunities and will help with the drive by BAE Systems Submarine Solutions to recruit more skilled workers this year."

It was Furness Enterprise who assisted BAE Systems Submarine Solutions in obtaining a grant from the NWDA to produce the website. Chief Executive Harry Knowles said: "It's critical that the Furness area's opportunities are promoted positively. The new website does a great job."

The BAE Systems recruitment website has three sections, which use eye-catching imagery, detailed descriptions and helpful tips to inform site visitors what it is like to LIVE, WORK and PLAY in south Cumbria.

Each section also includes several sub categories, so if you're new to the area and need to find out more about education and schooling, the cost of house prices, tourist attractions or local bars and restaurants, the information is just a click of the mouse away. User friendly and interactive, it features video case studies of BAE Systems Submarine Solutions employees, who in their own words explain the advantages of living in south Cumbria, and choosing a BAE Systems career at the shipyard.
