CFP will honor Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat and retired NBA champion Derek Anderson, alongside Dave Sanderson, at the event in NYC during 2019 NBA Draft Week.

Online PR News – 07-June-2019 – New York, NY – As a select group of athletes prepare for the life changing event that is the NBA Draft, Champions for Philanthropy will celebrate a few men who know exactly what that process is like, but the spotlight will be on their endeavors off the court. CFP will honor Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat and retired NBA champion Derek Anderson, alongside Dave Sanderson, at their first annual Most Valuable Philanthropist Basketball Awards on June 19th at Glasshouse Chelsea. NBA analyst Sarah Kustok will host the event and moderate a discussion with the awardees.

Champions for Philanthropy officially launched the MVP Awards series earlier this year during Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. Their inaugural event highlighted the charitable work of current and retired NFL players. The MVP Awards' purpose is to recognize the philanthropic efforts of professional athletes.

For his work supporting single parents and changing future chances, choices and challenges for children through his BAM Foundation, Adebayo will accept the 2019 Rising Star Award. 2006 NBA Champion Anderson will take home the honor of 2019 Most Valuable Philanthropist for his Stamina Foundation and their work empowering youth and young adults with the skills and resources need to follow their dreams. Finally, CFP will honor Sanderson, a motivational speaker who was one of the last passengers off the airplane that crashed into the Hudson River, best known as the Miracle on the Hudson, with the Courage Award.

"We started the MVP Awards to honor professional athletes who are making a significant difference in their communities and in the world,'' said CFP Co-Founders, Michelle Mays and Alycia Powell. "We want to celebrate their high-impact philanthropic efforts and inspire others to follow their lead."

The inspirational evening will include heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, networking and a conversation with the honorees about their philanthropy, which Sarah will lead. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit a charity of the MVP's choice. The 2019 MVP Awards will take place on Wednesday, June 19th at Glasshouse Chelsea, 545 West 25th Street, from 6 to 9 p.m. To learn more about the Awards and for tickets, please visit mostvaluablephilanthropist.com.
