Online PR News – 23-May-2019 – Franklin – Franklin, TN: Today, Frederick Haddox officially launched a crowd sourcing project on the Kickstarter website. The project, entitled /blak/:Marked by Disaster or Misfortune, is a hand-built comic book that took five years to produce. Collectively measuring 34 X 26.7 feet, the massive work involved 3,830 pasted pieces of paper within 1,561 frames on 334 poster boards. Haddox, who originally created his work between 1997 and 2002, is excited to finally expose his work further. "It was difficult to get convert this large work into a sample copy that I could send to publishers and agents", says the creator.
Haddox, who now has more marketing resources at his disposal, claims that his story still contains themes that are relevant today. "/blak/ gives lessons on self-empowerment and the collective nature of people based on experience rather than appearance." The story was created by Haddox while he was enrolled at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The graphic novel was part of an independent study project. The measurements of /blak/ are currently under review by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Kickstarter project /blak/: Marked by Disaster or Misfortune had two goals:
- Finalizing the images and re-inserting editing the novel with new text
- Publishing the graphic novel into printed and digital copies
