The Telecel Group Board of Directors attentively selected 14 startups to be sponsored at the Africa Startup Initiative Program and exhibit in their booth. On Febraury 27, Telecel Group hosted a panel at the MWC, to announce the launch of the Africa Startup Initiative Program.
The Mobile World Congress is the foremost prestigious event in the World for technology and telecommunication industries. This year, Telecel Group hosted startups from Africa at their booth. This helped introduce the startups to government officials, investors, fund providers, and entrepreneurs, who attended the MWC 2019. This gave the startups utmost access to them which gave them an advantage to continue their endeavors and become the success they dream of.
Telecel Group announced the launch of Africa Startup Initiative Program at the panel that took place on February 27 at the Mobile World Congress 2019. The aim of ASIP is to create success stories in Africa and respond to the needs of the market.
Telecel Group announced 10 million worth of trust funds. They claimed that their focus is now on finding a range of quality startups to ensure a successful start. Their main challenge is finding those startups and working with them towards success. They will tackle this by creating incubators and spreading them around Africa. Telecel Group believes that incubators are the perfect frame to create an ecosystem between MNO's and startups. As Telecel Group stated in the panel: "An ecosystem is like a virtual circus; we need startups and they need MNOs and it's all about that."
