Online PR News – 02-April-2019 – Estero, FL – Christy's Cause, a non-profit working to eradicate child sex trafficking through education, public awareness, restoration projects, and justice initiatives, announced the release of a new public service announcement (PSA). The goal of the PSA is to bring awareness to one of the ways sex traffickers target and brainwash victims for the purpose of sexually exploiting them and directs viewers to The National Human Trafficking Hotline and The Florida Department of Children and Families Abuse Hotline to report suspected child sex trafficking.
"Predator" is a 60 second PSA that depicts a real-life scenario of how sex trafficking victims are targeted, manipulated and entrapped. The story, told through the voice of a trafficker, portrays how he targets a victim and the psychological tactics he uses to groom and enslave a victim.
"Our goal is to reveal some of the tactics human traffickers use in hopes to raise awareness to a vulnerable teen population who could fall prey to these criminals," said Christy Ivie, founder of Christy's Cause. "We also hope Predator gives the community insight as to how to spot the grooming process and how they can help report suspicious behavior."
"Traffickers use degrading and dehumanizing tactics to keep victims enslaved. Mental enslavement is a cost-effective, low-risk approach—one that often doesn't attract unwanted attention from law enforcement," said Mellissa Withers, Ph.D., M.H.S, USC institute for Inequities in Global Health. "Traffickers are experts in psychological manipulation, which is why many victims don't seek help—even if the opportunity may arise. By understanding these tactics and how they may affect victims, we can become better prepared to create more effective ways to properly identify victims and assist them in accessing the services that they need to heal."
Christy's Cause partnered with local Hip Hop and Rap artist Adam Jerabek also known as Sanctified Souldier, who wrote the lyrics for the PSA, and actress Eren Sisk. "These music genres go hand in hand with storytelling," said Adam Jerabek. "Our goal is to use our music to communicate a real-life situation and paint a picture most people in our community wouldn't otherwise see."
The PSA video will be available at www.christyscause.com, YouTube and social media networks targeting a younger audience. The PSA was created by Old Sparky Productions. Television airtime was donated by The Higdon Group.
