Online PR News – 30-November-2018 – St. Louis – This Thanksgiving, the crew at Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria had something else to be thankful for as they celebrated their fifth anniversary on Thurs., November 22.
The casual, family owned and operated restaurant formally marked this special occasion on Wed., November 28 by treating guests to complimentary prosecco at both of their locations.
"We are so grateful for our community and all of the people who helped us grow and challenged us to improve every single day," said Chef Katie Collier, owner of Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria. "We couldn't have done it without everyone's support and encouragement, and we will continue to make our guests feel special and loved."
The restaurant opened its doors in 2013 after an overwhelming response from Collier's Kickstarter campaign. Since then, customers have savored artisanal, Italian-based meals including handmade pastas and pizza, flavorful salads, indulgent desserts, and more. Dishes often change with the seasons and feature fresh produce and ingredients from local sources.
The restaurant and Collier herself have enjoyed great success throughout the years, including an impressive list of awards. Katie's won A-List awards from St. Louis Magazine and received Best Pizza in Feast 50 Awards for 2016, 2017, and 2018. Collier was also named Sauce Magazine's Chef of the Year in 2017 and 2018, the first woman ever to earn this title. She also participated in Esquire Network's "The Next Great Burger" in which she won her episode and made it to the finale with her Ciao Bella Burger.
Amid all of the well-deserved accolades that the restaurant has garnered, the Collier team decided to open a second location last year in Town and Country. There, guests can relax and enjoy one another's company in a laid-back atmosphere as they watch pizza, handmade pastas, and more delectable food being created in the restaurant's dough room. Like the first restaurant, the newest addition has hosted several events, including this year's PGA Championship, Pizzaar events, Giveback Tuesday events, and many more.
Katie's also launched Vero Meal Kits last year, a unique service that provides collections of carefully curated Italian recipes and ingredients that customers can be easily prepare and enjoy. Aside from delicious meal kits that change every other week, customers had the opportunity to order a special Thanksgiving Meal Kit, which features a juicy roasted fennel pollen yogurt turkey and an array of delectable side dishes.
Of course, the innovative menu items and new meal kit company aren't the only things that have the St. Louis community talking. Since 2014, Katie's has been raising money for local nonprofit organizations through their Giveback Tuesday events. Every fourth Tuesday of the month, the restaurant donates 100 percent of net profits from one of their two locations to a designated charity. To date, they have donated close to an impressive $200,000.
"We'll always remember all of the kind people who lent us a hand when we were just getting started five years ago," Collier said. "In this spirit, we want to give back to our community by positively affecting the lives of those most in need."
