Raised funds will go directly toward training and caring for service dogs.

Online PR News – 17-November-2018 – ROLLA, Mo. – One bank is helping make a difference in the lives of veterans and first responders in the Greater St. Louis region.

Central Federal Bank presented Missouri Patriot Paws with a $5,000 check on Fri., October 19 at Veterans Memorial Park in Rolla.

All of the raised funds will go directly toward training and caring for service dogs.
Missouri Patriot Paws trains and certifies service dogs for Missouri veterans and first responders who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI). Several of these dogs are rescued from local shelters and assessed for trainability as service dogs.

"Our goal is to help local war heroes and first responders improve their PTSD symptoms and ease back into civilian life with the help of a loving, compassionate service dog," said Susan Hinkle, Program Coordinator of Missouri Patriot Paws. "These dogs are trained to assist in medical crises and help their new owners in coping with emotional overload. They become so connected to their owners and their symptoms and help reduce the severity - and occurrence - of anxiety attacks."

These dogs receive training within the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Mo. The animals are sent into the facility for a minimum of two months for training. Since dog training is the premier job in the center, inmates must apply and be granted the job.

"Training a service dog this way helps better the lives of inmates, veterans, first responders, and dogs. In fact, several inmates who trained the dogs have told us that this is the first time in their lives they have received unconditional love," said Hinkle.
