Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria to Host Giveback Tuesday Event Benefiting Stray Rescue of St. Louis

The Giveback Tuesday event is slated for Tues., October 23.

Online PR News – 10-October-2018 – St. Louis – Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria in Town and Country will be hosting their upcoming October Giveback Tuesday event on Tues., October 23. The event will take place at their location at 14171 Clayton Road and will benefit Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

Every month, Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria features a local nonprofit charity and donates 100 percent of net profits from the entire day to the charity. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included. So far, Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria has donated $184,685 to local nonprofit organizations.

Funds raised from this Giveback Tuesday event will help support Stray Rescue of St. Louis's Stracks Fund, which is designated for emergency medical care for the injured and abused animals they rescue daily.

Since 1998, Stray Rescue of St. Louis has made it their mission to become a leader in making St. Louis a more compassionate city where every companion animal knows health, comfort, and affection and no stray is euthanized just because he or she has been abandoned, abused, or neglected.

"We're out on the streets every day taking a progressive, proactive approach to establishing a permanent resolution to the stray companion animal problem through dedicated rescue efforts, sheltering, community outreach programs, education, collaborators, and the encouragement of responsible pet guardianship," said Andrea Wilkey, manager of events, fundraising, and gifts at Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

The nonprofit, which is the region's largest no-kill organization, rescues the abandoned, abused, and neglected companion animals of the city, restoring them to health medically and emotionally before they are adopted. Last year alone, they rescued 2,663 dogs and cats from the streets of St. Louis and helped 1,602 animals find their forever homes.

"We go to great lengths to give every animal a fighting chance to heal and recover from the horrors of street life before helping them find their forever homes," said Wilkey. "Every animal has a treatment plan in place to help them become prepared for adoption while they are in our care."

Last year was a big year for the organization as they voluntarily stepped up to assist the St. Louis City Animal Care and Control. They now provide medical care, caregiving, enrichment, socialization, and adoption services for the animals sheltered at the city's animal care and control center. Since then, the save rate for these animals has increased from 59 percent to 94 percent.

"We believe any animal that has the courage to survive the mean streets deserves nothing less than a chance at health, comfort, love, and family," Wilkey said. "It hurts to see these animals come through our doors so broken and defeated, but to see them heal, become confident, regain the spark in their eyes, and ultimately watch them walk out the door with their new family is utterly gratifying and makes it all worthwhile."
