Online PR News – 26-February-2011 – – Performance Auto has a strong commitment to quality and value for our customers and are proud to carry vehicles that mirror this commitment. This year we are pleased to announce that two of our automakers, Toyota and Lexus, took top honors in IntelliChoice’s 2011 Best Overall Value of the Year awards.

“Dominating the IntelliChoice’s 2011 Best Overall Value Awards is another example of how Toyota and Lexus continue to produce vehicles that retain their outstanding value,” said Don Esmond, senior vice president of Automotive Operations for Toyota Motor Sales, USA. “In a tough economy, finding a dependable vehicle that also holds its value over an extended period is one of the most important aspects of buying a new car.”

Toyota and Lexus’ commitment to value and quality put them ahead of all the automakers that were honored with IntelliChoice’s Best Overall Value awards and helped them claim 11 of the 21 awards. Toyota claimed more best value awards than any other automaker with seven. Lexus was honored with four.

The 11 Toyota and Lexus vehicles that claimed the Best Overall Value awards include:

Toyota Prius: Passenger Car
• Toyota Avalon: Premium Passenger Car
• Toyota RAV4: Compact Crossover/Wagon
Toyota Sienna: Minivan
• Toyota 4Runner: SUV
• Toyota Tacoma: Compact Pickup
• Toyota Tundra: Full-Size Pickup
• Lexus IS 250: Premium Compact Passenger Car
• Lexus IS 250C: Premium Convertible
Lexus RX 350: Premium Crossover/Wagon

IntelliChoice analyzes data on nearly 1,800 vehicle models before selecting the top 21 vehicles for their Best Overall Value awards. These best-in-class vehicles are the ones that deliver outstanding value and lower than expected costs over time.

“The most important thing about choosing a car wisely is knowing it’s not just about the lowest sticker price,” said IntelliChoice executive Editor, Charlie Vogelheim. “In fact, the purchase price is just the first cost; there are many other facts to consider when gauging overall cost.”

The winning vehicles are chosen based on their actual cost over five years. Depreciation, maintenance, repairs, fuel, financing and insurance are all taken into account when determining each vehicle’s overall value.
