Online PR News – 24-February-2011 – – Chilean Alex Manzano took down the 2011 Latin American Poker Tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil, bringing a huge amount of R$615,840 back to his hometown. However, before he was able to hoist the trophy, he still had to deal with a tough seat draw.

Manzano is an online poker player, who qualified for the LAPT Main Event through online poker satellites. HollywoodPoker (www.hollywoodpoker.com) offers online poker satellites to other major events with buy-ins starting as low as $2. Poker players can now start qualifying for the Grand Series of Poker Live in Seville and GSOP 6 and mini 2, coinciding with the site's exclusive February Omaha Points Race.

It took three hands after dinner for all the chips to go into the middle. Brazilian Joao “Joao Bauer” Neto won the first and second hands pre-flop. Alex Manzano then raised pre-flop to 270,000 on the third hand, to which Neto called. The flop gave away three smaill cards, 3d2c2s. Neto then checked and called a bet of 275,000 against Manzano. He checked on the 7c turn and called 315,000 more. When the river gave away a 4d, Neto checked once more

Manzano, on the other hand, did not act fast on the river. He asked for a count of Neto's chipstack (around 3.5 million behind) before deciding to go all in. The action was back to Neto, who took four long minutes before finally deciding to make a call. After this call, the gallery immediately went wild.

Manzano smiled and showed a 5c6c and a 7-high straight. This crushed Neto, as he hung his head and tossed his cards, revealing an As8d. Neto made a gutsy call but this time, he wasn't able to pull a Jack Bauer for Brazil. He was eliminated in second place, taking home R$352,760.

“A big congratulations to Manzano, crowned as the 2011 Latin American Poker Tournament champion,” said Edison M., Poker Room Manager of HollywoodPoker Live (http://www.hollywoodpoker.com). “The partisan Brazilian crowd hoped to see one of the five Brazilians at the final table be crowned as the first Brazilian champion in the history of LAPT but Manzano denied them that victory.”
