The Venice Carnival is famous for its decadence and revelry. However, this adult-oriented event actually does have an off shoot that may be appropriate for a younger crowd - the Kids’ Carnival.
Online PR News – 22-February-2011 – – During the Venice Carnival, from 26th February to 8th March, the Kids’ Carnival entertains the younger crowd. This year will be the second year of the event.
Many hotels in Venice can place children close to the Kids’ Carnival while keeping adults nearer to the events geared toward them.
The Kids’ Carnival takes place at the Giardini della Biennale, which will be transformed into the Garden of Flying Countries for the event. Countries as far flung as Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Israel and Belgium will all be represented.
The carnival is set to include exhibitions, educational activities, artistic workshops, animated guided tours, treasure hunts, meetings, shows, concerts and live performances. Educational operators from the Biennale di Venezia will be overseeing all of the activities.
Among the tours offered is a jaunt through the Enchanted Forest, which includes trees and animals complete with sounds that create a surreal experience. The City of Visions is a tour that allows for interaction. Video images projected inside a tunnel will be change based on the movement of the people on the tour.
There are also plenty of workshops taking place for those who are not content to just watch. One of the most pertinent is the mask and puppet making workshop. This allows children to get in on the action of the wider Venice Carnival by creating their own masks and puppets like the ones they will encounter the rest of the week.
