TUI Cruises offers cruises from Dubai during the winter season 2012/2013 with their new ship ‚ÄúMy Ship 2‚ÄĚ. Because of that, Dubai hopes to become a cruise destination.
Online PR News – 21-February-2011 – – TUI Cruises announced that they will offer cruises with ‚ÄúMy Ship 2‚ÄĚ into the Gulf region during the winter season 2012/2013. They will have tours to Abu Dhabi, Muscat or Bahrain which will start at their home port in Dubai which is a beautiful city where tourists can get a lot of different impressions.
‚ÄúMy Ship 2‚ÄĚ is the sister ship of ‚ÄúMy Ship 1‚ÄĚ and is going to be christened on 14th May 2011 in Hamburg at the Hamburg Cruise Center. TUI Cruises will take over the ship ‚ÄúCelebrity Mercury‚ÄĚ which was build in 1997 at the end of February in Baltimore. After that they will rebuild it for 50 million Euro so that it will get the same corporate design as the other ship and 956 cabins. The Spa and fitness area will be enlarged and the restaurants will be adjusted to the all-inclusive concept.
The maiden trip which is fully booked starts on 15th May 2011 and goes to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, England, France and Belgium.
From November 4 to March 24, TUI offers 20 one-week and two Trans-Arabian cruises. One that goes from the Mediterranean to Dubai in October/November 2012 and one that retraces the same route back to the Mediterranean in March/April 2013.
The ship already pulls into Dubai on the sixth morning of the seven-day cruise so that guests still have a whole day to discover Dubai. The luxury hotels, the beaches, shopping malls and traditional markets invite you.
TUI will be the fourth cruise operator which offers such services in the Gulf and therefore, according to Hamad Bin Mejren, DTCM Executive Director for Business Tourism, it will help to develop Dubai into a cruise destination. At the moment, the capacity of the cruise terminal is three ships and they are expecting five big ships at the same time after the completion of the expansion plan. The number of ships steadily increased from 2008 to 2010 so that it is expected that the number of cruise ships in 2011 will increase to 120, with 425,000 passengers.
