Punjab Technical University and Lovely Professional University Collaborate to organize Workshop on ‘E

*Teachers from PTU affiliated colleges to be acquainted with new course contents
* Workshop to continue for Eight Days

Online PR News – 17-February-2011 – – Punjab Technical University and Lovely Professional University have joined hands to organize an Eight Days Workshop, on a new subject to be introduced ‘Education in Human values’ in  the PTU affiliated colleges. The teachers from the PTU affiliated colleges are to be acquainted with new course contents and for this teachers from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Tarntaran attended the training programme being conducted at LPU Campus up to 8th February, 2011. Drafting a broader road map for better implementation and growth of this concept, it has been devised that, at least, two registrations are mandatory from each college. At present, more than 65 teachers are attending the workshop with great enthusiasm.  A team comprising of Famous alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Prof Ganesh P Bagaria, great Educator Mr Rajul Asthana, Dr Rajeev Sangal (IIIT Hyderabad), Prof Gaur and other renowned personalities are helping in smooth conduction of the workshop.
The Chancellor of LPU, Mr Ashok Mittal and the Vice Chancellor of PTU, Dr Rajneesh Arora inaugurated the workshop by lighting of the lamp. The Director General of LPU, Er HR Singla, Prof Gaur, Prof Sangal and other dignitaries were prominently present at this time. Elaborating the need of the hour, Mr Mittal said: “Now-a-days human values are missing from the Graduates. But, these are very important for them as they have to play vast ethical roles in the society for its growth on humane lines. Moreover, the companies are also looking for the job-seekers embedded fully with such values. PTU has really made an important landmark, in this regard, by taking a great initiative in introducing the much needed new course related to human values. Our former President Dr Abdul Kalam has termed it as a ‘Teachable Human Value Based Skill’ which will inevitably bring a totally different order in human relationship and, therefore, society as a whole.” He further added: “ LPU is already offering course close to this and in due course of time will look into strengthening this course.”
Telling about the new subject, Dr Arora from PTU said: “This subject focuses on what a human being is, what is purposeful and meaningful for him/her, what is the aim of human being and how one can meet this aim. This elaborates on what role he/she has to play as responsible human being at the level of individual, family, society and nature.” It is worth noticing that some of the initiatives in Value Education have also been efficiently taken by UP Technical University (UPTU), IIT-Delhi, IIT Kanpur, Chhattisgarh Government, NIT-Raipur, People from different walks of urban life, Social workers from NGOs and  many such others. In fact, the workshop is conducted as a dialogue, free from any value prescriptions or do’s and don’ts.
