Online PR News – 05-November-2009 – – Nordecor LLC, a custom millwork company in Brainerd, Minnesota, is proud to announce it has been granted Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody Certification. This certification means that Nordecor meets the strict tracking requirements prescribed by the FSC to ensure that the products Nordecor sells as FSC-Certified are produced from wood originating from responsibly managed forests, or from recycled lumber, such as barnwood.

Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations. To become FSC certified a business must meet a set of strict standards whereby wood is tracked all the way from harvest to final product. Buying from companies that display the “FSC “check-tree” logo is your guarantee that the products you buy are responsibly sourced.

Nordecor provides high quality interior and exterior wood products for commercial and residential use, specializing in the use of rustic woods and lumber reclaimed from old barns and industrial buildings throughout North America; and in particular for floors, ceilings, walls, staircases, beams, trusses, mouldings, exterior siding, and trim. The reclaimed wood species processed by Nordecor include Oak, White Pine, Douglas Fir, Black Walnut, and American Chestnut.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that was established in 1993 and is dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC provides standards, trademark assurance and accreditation services for companies and organizations interested in responsible forestry. For companies like Nordecor, this provides a meaningful and widely accepted standard for claims associated with “green” building projects being certified under LEED or GreenStar standards.

Nordecor’s membership with the True North Certified Forest Products Network was instrumental in achieving the FSC certification. This not-for-profit organization promotes awareness of Northern Minnesota’s forestry industry and its commitment to the sustainability of our forests.
