St. Charles Elder Lawyers Attend Summit to Advocate For Veterans Facing Benefit Delays and Denials

St. Charles Elder Law Attorneys, Steven Jones and Rosalind Robertson attended the Veterans Benefit Summit to help vets overcome new obstacles with the VA.

Online PR News – 11-February-2018 – St. Charles, MO – Stephen Jones, Founder of Jones Elder Law, LLC, was invited to be among a group of twenty (20) elder law attorneys to participate in a first of its kind Veterans Benefit Summit in Atlanta, Georgia. The event was hosted by Victoria Collier widely considered among the best Veterans Administration Attorneys in the United States.

“Victoria always has her finger on the pulse of the Veterans Administration", said Jones, a St. Charles elder law attorney. For some time now the Veterans Administration has been eyeing making changes to their Service Pension Program. This is a program used by Veterans throughout the United States to help meet the cost of Independent Living, Supportive Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Custodial Nursing Care. After publishing proposed regulations, they were overwhelmed with negative comments and for the near future appear to have tabled formally implementing such regulatory change.

“What Victoria and other elder law attorneys across the country have begun noticing is that even though they have not formally changed the regulations, the Veterans Administration appears to be using them in adjudicating claims. In other words, applying rules and regulations to Veteran’s claims that simply do not yet exist,” said Jones.

In the opinion of many elder law lawyers, Veteran’s claims are being denied in hopes that the Veterans claim will just languish in the appeals process. According to Jones, “it is absolutely critical that individuals representing Veterans in the Service Pension process be able and willing to see the claim all the way through including the appeals process.”

The group of elder law attorneys intend to share information and experiences in order to place their clients on even footing with the Veterans Administration. According to Rosalind Robertson, Managing Member at Jones Elder Law, LLC, “we are proud to serve our Veteran community and it is our duty to make sure we are in position to follow through on these claims during the appeals process.”
