Aar Maanta has released 'Halaale' his first single in two years.
Online PR News – 07-February-2018 – London, UK – Aar Maanta has released 'Halaale,' his first single in two years.
The Somali singer shared a lyric video of his new single on YouTube.
The video artwork was done by Swedish-Somali visual artist Munira Yussuf, according to the artist the visuals were inspired by a photo of Ayan Mohallim one of the twins of Mataano Fashion. In a recent visit to Somalia, the Somali-American designer was photographed in a traditional setting by Ahmed Farah Somali-Dutch filmmaker who worked with Aar Maanta on 'Deeqa' and other inspiring videos about issues the Somali-Diaspora face.
Somalia has one of the largest diasporas in the world and they have been recently active in reclaiming their artistic identity. Aar Maanta noted on his Instagram that he wishes to work with the Kenyan based filmmaker again for 'Halaale.' The upbeat reggae sound number is in the traditional Somali style of 'Dhaanto.' Produced by Aar Maanta during his recent visit to his hometown Jigjiga.
'Halaale' follows 'Tahriib' the singer's last song released in 2016 which he sang for his cousin who was held in Libya by human traffickers. The song was later chosen by the UN for their anti-human-trafficking campaign Dangerous Crossings. At this stage, we are not sure whether this is a sign of more to come or not from the artist. Aar Maanta's hasn't released an album since his 2014 six-track EP 'Somali Songs From The Diaspora.'
