National foundation, Taylor’s Gift, announced this week that Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) will be the organization’s fifth Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) partner for its national Legacy Gift Program. This program of Taylor’s Gift Foundation financially assists the families of organ donors in their immediate time of need.
To date, Taylor’s Gift has been a lifeline to almost 200 organ donor families providing financial assistance to help with food, funeral arrangements, transportation and housing assistance. The Legacy Gift program is the only one in the country providing this resource to organ donor families.
In the state of Texas, there were 936 organ donor families this past year. With the addition of TOSA, Taylor’s Gift Foundation now has the opportunity to serve every organ donor family in need in the state of Texas.
“Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) is on a mission to save lives through the power of organ donation, and none of it is possible without the generosity of our donors and their families,” said Joseph Nespral, CEO of TOSA. “While we support our families in many ways, we are not permitted to provide them with financial assistance. Now through our partnership with Taylor’s Gift, we will be able to direct our precious donor families to a means to receive that support.”
The Legacy Gift program was established to provide financial assistance to individuals and families touched by organ donation. Assisting with needs such as burial expenses, utilities, rent, and more, Taylor’s Gift Foundation works to help those who are facing immediate need. Taylor’s Gift Foundation is the only organization in the nation with a program which financially supports organ donor families.
“We are excited to continue to pursue our mission of supporting every organ donor family in their time of immediate need through expanding the Legacy Gift program nationally,” said Emily Allbright, Executive Director of Taylor’s Gift Foundation. “Working now with TOSA, our organization, Taylor’s Gift will serve many more organ donor families in the state of Texas.”
