– Grueling triathlon is held near Aviemore
02/07/2011 reports that athletes will be seeing if they have what it takes to go the distance over an exerting triathlon taking place near Aviemore in March

Online PR News – 07-February-2011 – – On 19th March 2011, the Wee Triathlon is inviting novices and regular athletes to take part in the combination of events which feature swimming, cycling and running disciplines. The races are aimed at testing athletes but the emphasis is also on having fun so people looking to enter don’t have to feel they need to be in peak physical condition.

The races will unfold in Fort William with the first race held within the pool of the Lochaber Leisure Center. The swim lasts for 400m and the fastest swimmers will then head off first onto the bikes to the cycling event which features a ride over four miles in the forest of Glen Nevis. Athletes will have to push themselves through a short climb on the course before a more difficult descent and then it’s time to dismount for the final run. Competitors then have to cover a three mile distance to the checkered flag which also includes forest and cross country terrain.

Past events have been oversubscribed and this year the first race is fully booked so another race will also take place on 20th March. The increase in athletes as well as spectators to the area is likely to cause difficulties finding a hotel in Aviemore as more people look to stay close by.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at commented: “Places on the triathlon quickly fill up as do hotels in Aviemore so to be sure of finding accommodation and the most competitive prices visitors are advised to search online first.”
