Online PR News – 27-December-2017 – Roorkee, India – The Late Shri Pralhad P Chhabria Awards are instituted by Hope Foundation and Research Centre – A Project by Finolex in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, India Council and Women in Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Pune Section.
Late Shri Pralhad P Chhabria, Founder Chairman, Finolex Group of Companies and Founder President, Hope Foundation and Research Centre, has been an inspiration to many. Despite having received only primary education, Shri P P Chhabria, with his ingenuity and inventive business strategies, built the INR 6000 crore Finolex Group. He firmly believed that the future of our country depended on two critical aspects; quality education and women empowerment. His contributions to the communities at Konkan through the Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT) and pan India, through International Institute of Information Technology, I²IT have been significant. Both these institutions will keep his legacy going for generations to come. It is in his honour, dedication and passion for learning that these awards are being constituted in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, India Council And Women in Engineering Affinity Group, IEEE Pune Section.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organisation and works for ‘Advancing Technology for Humanity. IEEE India Council is the umbrella organization which coordinates IEEE activities in India. IEEE Pune Section is one of the eleven IEEE entities in India which caters to the needs of a geographical area in and around Pune. IEEE Women in Engineering is an Affinity Group (referred hereinafter as WIE AG) under the umbrella of IEEE works towards facilitation of global recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines. WIE AG IEEE Pune Section, established under the aegis of IEEE Pune Section, endeavours to manifest the vision and mission of its parent body.
The purpose of this award is to instil in young women the confidence that they are equal to, if not better than, young men and deserve every opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities.
These awards are instituted to recognize and applaud outstanding girl student/s specifically from the faculties of science, engineering or technology.
Award 1 - Will be bestowed upon a graduating female student who throughout her undergrad years has not only maintained excellent grades but has contributed to the institute, the university and/or the community.
Award 2 - Will be given to a woman in her early career stage and has been successfully contributing to economic development of the nation.
i.IEEE Student Member for Award No 1 and IEEE Member for Award No 2.
ii.An IEEE woman in engineering membership is desirable though not necessary.
The award will consist of a medal, a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 1,25,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Only) for each category.
