Westchester County health and wellness coach receives community award for her pro-bono work with local non-profit organization.
Online PR News – 08-December-2017 – Valhalla, NY – Karen Mayo, a health and wellness coach and the author of “Mindful Eating: 30 Days to A Whole New You,” was honored with a Community Award for her continuing support of the Valhalla-based Search for Change, Inc., at the organization’s annual Communion Recognition Breakfast earlier this fall.
Mayo was one of two individuals to receive the award from the non-profit, which provides housing for those with emotional, social and economic barriers.
She received the award for the pro-bono work she did with a client who was referred to her from Search for Change. Thanks to Mayo’s guidance and encouragement, the client lost 100 pounds over the space of 1½ years through a combination of portion control and education. Now enrolled in college, thanks to Mayo’s efforts, he still has 150 pounds to lose, but is well on his way to having a much healthier lifestyle.
Mayo said she was happy to give back. “I am grateful and humbled to receive this award.”
Mayo is a board-certified integrative nutrition, health and lifestyle coach, a certified sports nutritionist, along with being certified in fitness and a personal trainer. A member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Mayo leads corporate health and wellness workshops across the region, offering group programs and private individual health and nutrition coaching to families.
