Hess graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale, IL, in May of 2014 and passed the Illinois Bar Exam in July of 2014. Hess obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Concordia University Chicago and is a long-time resident of the Northwest Suburbs.
Attorney Hess brings with him to the firm over seven years of combined law firm and insurance industry experience. He most recently served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Sandra Tristano of Cook County's Third Municipal District, in addition to clerking at the Alleman Law Finn, P.C. while in law school.
While earning his law degree at Southern Illinois University School of Law, Hess earned two "Cali" awards for obtaining the highest grades in both Trial Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Hess also received the Pro Bono Legal Participation Award for being very active in service roles. He served as the Vice President of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Vice President of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and as the Student Representative of the Youth Leadership Division of the II 1inois State Bar Association.
As a member of the Moot Court Mock Trial Team, Hess participated in seven mock trials including winning First Place at the 2013 Sacramento Interstate Mock Trial Competition and Third Place at the 2014 University of Missouri-Kansas City Invitational.
In 2013, Hess served as a 711 Licensed Intern at the Southern Illinois Juvenile Justice Clinic in Carbondale, IL. As an Intern, Hess represented juvenile clients in hearings for shelter care, adjudication, disposition, permanency, and termination of parental rights.
Hess was also a writer for the Electronic Discovery Database of the Sedona Conference based in Phoenix, AZ, and is the author of "To 'Friend' Or Not to 'Friend?': Ethical Considerations Regarding Social Media and How to Comply With the Model Rules of Professional Conduct in E-discovery."
His experience in the insurance industry includes working as a Senior Field Claims Representative for Farmers Insurance Group in Aurora, IL, from 2008 to 2011. During this time, he received the Farmers Insurance Superior Service Award in both 2010 and 2011 for excellence in his field.
Hess is a member of the following organizations: Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice, Phi Alpha Delta, American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, American Psychological Association, and the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
