Laura King, designer/owner, Loralyn Designs, Marlborough, MA, has received word from the stylist at The Vampire Diaries that her Stainless Steel Celtic Cross Pendant will be worn by character Galen Vaughn as part of a story arc that begins with Episode 13, airing in January.
Online PR News – 12-December-2012 – Marlborough, MA – Laura King, designer/owner, Loralyn Designs, Marlborough, MA, has received word from the stylist at The Vampire Diaries that her “Stainless Steel Celtic Cross Pendant” will be worn by character Galen Vaughn as part of a story arc that begins with Episode 13, airing in January.
King, a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries, says that although she’s known for a couple of weeks that the pendant would be worn on Episode 13 she was not certain about which character would be donning the clean-lined stainless steel pendant with the azure blue focal. Only yesterday, she learned it is to be new, recurring character Galen Vaughn, played by Charlie Bewley.
"Galen Vaughn is related to Connor Jordan and is one of The Five hunters," noted King. "He is described by Zap2It as ruggedly handsome, charming and tough as hell. What more could I ask for?"
Leigh Leverett received the Loralyn Designs “Celtic Cross Pendant” as part of a stylist gift bag initiative spearheaded by art promotions and celebrity gifting company The Artisan Group (http://www.theartisangroup.org). Valerie Guerrero, founder of The Artisan Group, sent the gift bag, which included jewelry and accessories from 80 of the Group’s 600+ members, to Leverett in early November. To date, Leverett has chosen 13 items for possible use in Season 4.
The opportunity to put an item into the stylist gift bag came up unexpectedly, leaving King little time to plan. However, she was up for the challenge.
“In watching the show I noticed the vampires are not like the vampires many of us grew up hearing about; they live by different rules. However, one thing that hasn’t changed is that they live across centuries,” King noted. “With that in mind, I decided to create a Vampire Diaries jewelry design that would be believable as a historic piece but that could also be worn in a contemporary setting. And so the “Celtic Cross” was born.”
King has designed several companion pieces for a mini-collection inspired by The Vampire Diaries. The pieces are well priced for gifting and have in common a youthful, almost timeless vibe. The collection includes several pendants, two cuffs, two rings and a pair of dangle earrings. The pieces are available on the company’s Etsy shop, http://www.loralyndesigns.etsy.com. Each piece is color customizable.
King explains that her vision for Loralyn Designs is to provide an affordable, easy to wear, timeless jewelry collection that complements a range of looks.
As a designer, King looks to industrial style, especially geometric shapes and silver and bronze metals, for inspiration. “I started out using stainless steel washers and silver plated components and am now expanding out to full stainless steel items like the “Celtic Cross Pendant” I made for The Vampire Diaries,” said King. “I find myself intrigued not only by industrial style, but by elements of Goth and Rocker Chic as well.”
Loralyn Designs jewelry is in the hands of Tyra Banks, and most recently the company included its business cards in celebrity gifts bags at the Official Talent Gift Lounge for The 46th Annual CMA Awards.
